Black Starlets Head Coach, Laryea Kingston, has emphasized that the team\u2019s main objective is to qualify for the 2025 U-17 AFCON, having missed the last two editions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Black Starlets secured a triumphant victory over Benin in their final group match of the ongoing WAFU Zone B Under-17 Championship, held at the University of Ghana Stadium on Tuesday, May 22, 2024.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mark Mensah Kagawa opened the scoring for the Starlets, and Theophilus Ayamga doubled the lead with a stunning finish following a 27-pass sequence.<\/p>\n

\nThe Black Starlets entered halftime with a 2-0 advantage, showing promise of more goals in the second half.<\/p>\n

Despite winning several free kicks after the break, Ghana couldn\u2019t capitalize on these opportunities, leaving fans eager for more.<\/p>\n

As Benin sought to reduce the deficit, the Black Starlets maintained their aggressive attack until the final whistle.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the post-game press conference, the former Black Stars player expressed that qualifying the team to the 2025 AFCON would be a great delight for him<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Since <\/span>2017 <\/span>Ghanaians <\/span>have <\/span>not <\/span>seen our good <\/span>team <\/span>that <\/span>previously <\/span>we <\/span>enjoyed <\/span>most <\/span>from 19<\/span>91, 19<\/span>93, 19<\/span>95, 19<\/span>97, 19<\/span>99, <\/span>2001 <\/span>that <\/span>we <\/span>lost <\/span>this <\/span>team.<\/span><\/div>\n

So <\/span>if <\/span>we <\/span>are <\/span>able <\/span>to qualify<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>this <\/span>team <\/span>I <\/span>think <\/span>it\u2019s <\/span>amazing, <\/span>for <\/span>me <\/span>I <\/span>would <\/span>be <\/span>much <\/span>much <\/span>happy <\/span>than <\/span>anything <\/span>else <\/span>in <\/span>the <\/span>world.<\/span><\/div>\n

B<\/span>ecause <\/span>I <\/span>know <\/span>Ghanaians <\/span>are <\/span>craving <\/span>for <\/span>this <\/span>I <\/span>know <\/span>Ghanaians <\/span>have <\/span>worked <\/span>so <\/span>hard, <\/span>they <\/span>put <\/span>a <\/span>lot <\/span>of <\/span>things <\/span>in <\/span>place <\/span>for <\/span>us <\/span>to <\/span>get <\/span>there <\/span>but <\/span>it\u2019s <\/span>been <\/span>very <\/span>difficult <\/span>because <\/span>other <\/span>countries <\/span>are <\/span>also <\/span>developing <\/span>but <\/span>I <\/span>think <\/span>we <\/span>are <\/span>in <\/span>the <\/span>right <\/span>direction, <\/span>we <\/span>can <\/span>give <\/span>it <\/span>a <\/span>day <\/span>at <\/span>a <\/span>time, <\/span>now <\/span>we <\/span>are <\/span>in <\/span>the <\/span>semis, <\/span>any <\/span>team <\/span>that <\/span>they <\/span>put <\/span>in <\/span>front <\/span>of <\/span>us, <\/span>myself <\/span>and <\/span>my <\/span>technical <\/span>team <\/span>will <\/span>sit <\/span>down <\/span>and <\/span>have <\/span>a <\/span>game <\/span>against <\/span>them <\/span>I <\/span>believe <\/span>it\u2019s <\/span>on <\/span>Saturday, <\/span>we <\/span>will <\/span>be <\/span>ready <\/span>to <\/span>face any <\/span>opponent <\/span>that <\/span>comes <\/span>to <\/span>us.<\/span><\/div>\n

Ghana will now face the second-placed team from Group B in their next match, scheduled for Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n
