A hairdresser being investigated over TikTok threats against President John Mahama and the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, has been granted bail in the sum of GH1\u00a250,000 by an Accra Circuit Court.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The accused, Yayra Abiwu, also known as AY, was absent from court on Wednesday when her alleged accomplice, Prince Ofori (alias Fante Comedy), appeared.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

She was reportedly admitted to the Police Hospital after collapsing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yayra is facing charges of abetment of crime, threat of death, and knowingly making a communication containing a threat of death by electronic means.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

She has pleaded not guilty.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The court granted her bail with three sureties, two of whom must be gainfully employed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yayra is also required to deposit her passport with the court\u2019s registry and report to the police every Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her lawyer, Mr Enoch Anhwere Afoakwah, argued that his client has a fixed place of abode, no prior criminal record, and is not a flight risk.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He added that her mobile phones had been seized for forensic examination, stressing that bail should not serve as punishment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On August 13, 2025, Ofori, a trader and resident of Abossey Okai, was also charged with offensive conduct conducive to a breach of the peace and knowingly permitting an electronic communication service to be used for offensive communication.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He pleaded not guilty before Mrs Evelyn Asamoah, a High Court judge sitting with additional responsibility as a Circuit Court judge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ofori\u2019s bail was set at GHC100,000 with three sureties. He is also required to deposit his passport and report to the police every Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A third suspect, Alberta Okrah, alias Ghana Jollof, is currently at large.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prosecutor ASP Emmanuel Haligah opposed bail for Yayra, citing the seriousness of the threats against the President and First Lady.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He told the court there was undisputed video evidence of her threatening to \u201ckill the President.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prosecution said in August 2025, Alberta and Ofori hosted a live-streamed discussion on TikTok during which offensive and abusive statements were made against Sammy Gyamfi, conduct likely to provoke a breach of the peace.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They allegedly went further to threaten the lives of the President and First Lady, saying: \u201cWe will kill the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and kill him again, in a plane. We will make sure we kill that Mahama\u201d among other remarks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The prosecution said during the programme, the accused persons actively participated and encouraged the offensive statements.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Alberta and Ofori, as hosts, had full control over the live session but knowingly permitted their platform to be used for making and disseminating the threats.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The matter was reported to the police, and a forensic capture of the live stream was secured as evidence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yayra and Ofori are scheduled to reappear in court on August 25, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
