Galamsey is a homicider, ecocider, a criminal against mother earth!<\/p>\n

Would the world hear the cry of fauna and flora galamsey devours;<\/p>\n

Unparalleled unemployment it causes;<\/p>\n

The rural poor despoiled and left poorer;<\/p>\n

Fruit bearing cocoa trees cut and uprooted.<\/p>\n

No more fresh river water,<\/p>\n

No more arable lands,<\/p>\n

No more school going for the youth.<\/p>\n

Yet, more kidney diseases and malformed babies.<\/p>\n

Open pits to swallow more lives.<\/p>\n

The world will bemoan Ghana more if they knew;<\/p>\n

Yes, the list of galamsey genocide in Ghana;<\/p>\n

Yes, the scale of devastated forest;<\/p>\n

Yes, the number of birds and animals dead and gone waste.<\/p>\n

We only need to be angry enough at galamsey:<\/p>\n

Amassing gold at the peril of a nation!<\/p>\n

Till now we seem not to grasp the immensity of the problem.<\/p>\n

Hence, we keep on masking it:<\/p>\n

New acronyms, new slogans.<\/p>\n

Albeit, same contents and intentions;<\/p>\n

Pretending to tame a lion with our bare hands.<\/p>\n

Yet we have the best legislation;<\/p>\n

Let them be implemented to the last letter.<\/p>\n

And we will not kill our nation builders;<\/p>\n

No more dying of unknown heroes;<\/p>\n

No more virtual killing of Presidents and Party Chairpersons.<\/p>\n

By the way, could any of our consolers have shed crocodile tears?<\/p>\n

Who will not ridicule such logic?<\/p>\n

For gold, they poison their waters;<\/p>\n

For gold, they destroy their farmlands;<\/p>\n

For gold, they decimate the ecosystem;<\/p>\n
