The Upper West Regional Police Command has announced the conviction and sentencing of Mohammed Ali, who was handed a 10-year custodial sentence with hard labour by the Wa Circuit Court on Monday, August 11.<\/p>\n

It follows a fatal motor accident on July 30, near Bugubelle, where Mohammed Ali first came to the attention of law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the police, officers responding to the accident discovered incriminating evidence on Ali at the scene, including a quantity of ammunition and an offensive weapon. <\/p>\n

Upon further interrogation, Ali admitted full awareness of the items found in his possession and disclosed information related to ongoing robbery activities in the municipality.<\/p>\n

The suspect also identified other accomplices who are currently on the run.<\/p>\n

Following investigations, Ali was formally charged with robbery, preparation to commit a crime to wit robbery, and possession of a firearm without lawful authority.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to all charges, leading to his conviction and sentencing.<\/p>\n

Police say strenuous efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.<\/p>\n
