Halle Berry\u2019s first ex-husband, David Justice, was slammed by fans for saying he\u00a0divorced her because the actress didn\u2019t possess \u201cmotherly\u201d traits.<\/p>\n

Justice, 59, made headlines when he opened up about the reason he decided to pull the plug on his four-year marriage to the \u201cCatwoman\u201d actress, 58.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn\u2019t vast,\u201d the former MLB player\u00a0said on Matt Barnes\u2019 \u201cAll the Smoke\u201d podcast\u00a0last Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I\u2019m looking at my mom \u2014 and I\u2019m a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I\u2019m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I\u2019m thinking, \u2018OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?\u2019 At that time, as a young guy, she don\u2019t cook, don\u2019t clean, don\u2019t really seem like, motherly, and then we start having issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Atlanta Braves player \u2014 who also confessed that their demanding careers also played a role in the split \u2014 said he didn\u2019t know if his \u201cheart was really into it\u201d when Berry asked him to marry her after they had only been dating for five months.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018OK,\u2019 because I couldn\u2019t say \u2018no.\u2019 Who\u2019s going to say \u2018no\u2019 at that time?\u201d Justice shared, adding that he \u201cdidn\u2019t want to make her feel bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three-time MLB All-Star and the \u201cMonster\u2019s Ball\u201d actress tied the knot in January 1993 and finalised their divorce in June 1997.<\/p>\n

Berry then sought a\u00a0restraining order\u00a0against Justice, citing fear for her \u201cpersonal safety and well-being.\u201d (Justice publicly denied the allegations at the time.)<\/p>\n

The Academy Award winner then went on to marry singer Eric Ben\u00e9t from 2001 to 2005 and\u00a0Olivier Martinez\u00a0from 2013 to 2016. She is\u00a0currently dating\u00a0singer\u00a0Van Hunt.<\/p>\n

Berry shares Nahla, 17, with ex Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo-Robert, 11, with Martinez.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Justice has been married to Rebecca Villalobos since 2001. They share three children: David Jr., 25, Dionisio, 23, and Raquel, 21.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
