The Western Regional Branch of the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Limited has taken delivery of\u00a011\u00a0new buses to boost its transport operations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 29-seater buses formed part of 100 buses\u00a0procured\u00a0by the government to strengthen both intra-city and inter-city transport systems across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, who handed over the buses to the management of the MMT in Takoradi, said the move formed part of the government\u2019s broader agenda of resetting Ghana\u2019s transport systems and bringing relief to commuters plying the country\u2019s urban and rural routes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThe arrival of these buses marks a defining moment for us because we have been fortunate to receive 11 out the 100 procured. We can only be grateful to the President for this great initiative.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He urged the MMT management to put in place proper maintenance mechanisms to help guarantee longevity of the buses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Nelson also encouraged drivers and conductors of the buses to strictly observe safety rules and regulations to prevent crashes on the roads.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Albert Asarhin, the Western Regional Manager of MMT Limited, expressed gratitude to the government for procuring additional buses to augment their existing fleets and boost their operations.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cPreviously, our buses were only eight so we stopped operations on\u00a0certain routes, but with these additions, we will revive those routes and serve our passengers better.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said the new buses would ply various inter-city routes including Takoradi to Accra, Tarkwa,\u00a0Elubo, Kumasi, Obuasi,\u00a0Dunkwa,\u00a0Sandema\u00a0and other communities within the Western Region.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
