Guillaume Hoareau has died after he collapsed mid-game during a match between Jersey and Guernsey.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Jersey Basketball Association, Hoareu who is 40 years suffered a cardiac arrest in the third quarter of the game at Fort Regent in St Helier on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The game was stopped immediately and spectators were asked to leave the hall while emergency services treated him however luck wasn\u2019t on his side as he died shortly afterwards in hospital.<\/p>\n

In a tribute by the association, the association labeled the loss as terrible and a shock to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cG was a pivotal part of our basketball community. He was an inspiration and mentor to both our senior and junior players. <\/em>
\n\u201cHe was passionate about basketball and improving the game in the island.<\/em>
\n\u201cHe proudly represented Jersey at the Island Games and alongside the kids that he coached.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond his official roles, G was our friend, our brother, and the lifeblood of our community.
\n\u201cHis energy, passion and huge spirit have given us so much enjoyment and pride over so many years.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe wish to express our sincere condolences to his wife and young family, who we will do everything we can to support during this sad time.<\/em>\u201d
\nIt added: \u201cWe also pass on our deepest sympathies to his wider family, friends and colleagues at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

The JBBA has now cancelled all training sessions out of respect until after half term and allow the team time to process the tragic loss.<\/p>\n
