The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-GH) has expressed deep sorrow over the August 6 military helicopter crash near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n

The tragic incident claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians, including two ministers of state and smilitary officers.<\/p>\n

In a statement, IET-GH extended condolences to President John Mahama, the government, and the bereaved families, describing the victims as individuals whose lives \u201creflected excellence, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to public service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those killed in the crash included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah; Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong; NADMO Deputy Director-General Samuel Aboagye; and three Ghana Air Force personnel \u2014 Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.<\/p>\n

While joining the nation in mourning, IET-GH urged the president to heed calls from the Coalition Against Illegal Mining to take decisive steps to eradicate galamsey. <\/p>\n

The group said the tragic loss of the eight \u201cis a sobering reminder of the need for bold leadership to protect lives, preserve our environment, and safeguard our national future.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to IET-GH, swift and sustained action against illegal mining would serve as both a fitting tribute to the victims\u2019 sacrifice and a critical step toward a safer, more prosperous Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cMay their souls rest in perfect peace,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
