Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, has urged Ghanaians to be inspired by the events of the June 4,\u00a01979\u00a0and commit to the ideals of probity and accountability to build a prosperous nation for all.\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said the June 4\u00a0Uprising continued to serve as a reminder that integrity, patriotism, discipline, probity, accountability, and dedicated public service were the surest ways to advance the country\u2019s development agenda.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said this when the Takoradi Branch of the Young Revolutionary Cadres of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), organised a durbar to commemorate the 47th<\/sup>\u202fAnniversary of the June 4\u00a0Uprising.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

The event, held in Takoradi, was on the theme: \u201cStrengthening\u00a0State institutions: Lessons from the June 4,\u00a01979\u00a0Uprising,\u201d and marked by a flag-raising, lighting of perpetual flame, and wreath-laying among other activities.\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Nelson noted that\u00a0the\u00a0June 4\u00a0Uprising was a major turning point in Ghana\u2019s political history that reshaped governance, tested its democratic aspirations, and challenged the people\u2019s understanding of leadership and accountability.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThough it was driven by widespread dissatisfaction with corruption and economic hardship, it\u00a0remains\u00a0a defining chapter in Ghana\u2019s democratic evolution.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt reminds us that while the demand for accountability is legitimate and necessary, the means by which it is pursued must always be grounded in the rule of law and democratic principles.\u201d\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Western Regional Minister\u00a0stated\u00a0that as leaders, they\u00a0remained\u00a0committed to promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of development.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Nelson said they would continue to work closely with traditional authorities, civil society organisations, the private sector, development partners, and the citizenry to ensure that public resources were managed effectively and utilised for the benefit of all.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

He commended the Young Revolutionary Cadres of Takoradi for consistently organising the commemorative events to preserve and promote the importance of the June 4 uprising in the political history of the country.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

He asked them to be united, and guided by the principles of probity and accountability, and work towards building a better Ghana for all.\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Fortune Agbodzah,\u00a0the\u00a0Chairman\u00a0for the 47th<\/sup>\u202fAnniversary Commemoration Committee, said the event was to remind Ghanaians that the country could only realise its development aspirations through discipline, hard work, and selfless service by the citizenry.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
