Prince Kofi Amoabeng, former Chief Executive of the defunct (Unique Trust) UT Bank, has raised concerns about the tensions being associated with Ghana\u2019s political processes going into the December 7, 2024, general elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The retired captain fears these pockets of violence, if not addressed amicably, have the potential for political unrest.<\/p>\n

However, he emphasised that Ghana\u2019s situation may be bad, \u201cbut better than being at war.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview with Accra-based JoyNews on Friday, May 17, the business mogul underscored that \u201cAlthough it seems like the NPP has lost favour among Ghanaians, change is not going to be very smooth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is where my fear comes in because I think if there\u2019s an obvious win for NDC and the NPP is using their money and influence to rig and do all sorts of things, things might explode. We\u2019re talking about the machetes and guns that people are toting.\u201d<\/p>\n

We\u2019re fully prepared to safeguard the sanctity of election 2024 \u2013 NDC<\/a><\/p>\n\n

\u201cSo we have to pray that for whatever reason, the elections go smoothly somehow and we\u2019re able to choose a new leader and whether it\u2019s NPP or NDC, it is what we have.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s better to have peace than anything else because our situation we say is bad. It\u2019s better than being at war,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Amoabeng stated that there have been instances of violence at several centres during the current limited voter registration exercise, which he believes, do not bode well for the peace of the country.<\/p>\n

However, Kofi Amoabeng remains hopeful that the situation will not escalate or lead to conflicts during the elections.<\/p>\n

He urged Ghanaians and political parties to act responsibly and ensure that the right thing is done.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he encouraged everyone to keep their faith in God.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s try and pray for things to calm down, certainly we\u2019re going through a lot of hardships. It is scary so we need to pray and hope for the best.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it shouldn\u2019t put us in a state of paralysis, as in we don\u2019t know what to do or we\u2019re not going to work hard. We have to work hard for it (peace).\u201d<\/p>\n
