The\u00a0Anlo\u00a0Queens Mothers Association, in the Volta Region, has been charged to remain steadfast in their traditional mandate of preserving culture, safeguarding children, and\u00a0leading community development.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The call came as stakeholders stressed that\u00a0queenmothers, as custodians of tradition, play\u00a0a central role\u00a0in shaping values and driving progress across\u00a0Anlo\u00a0communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Madam\u00a0Emmanuella\u00a0Woelikplim\u00a0Afetorgbor,\u00a0\u00a0the\u00a0Gender Desk Officer of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in\u00a0Anloga\u00a0District, during a capacity-building workshop\u00a0made the appeal at\u00a0Anloga,\u00a0encouraged\u00a0the association that their influence as mothers and community leaders gave them a unique platform to promote positive change and social cohesion at the grassroots level.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She explained that the two-day workshop was under the theme \u201cEmpowered\u00a0As\u00a0One,\u201d and was designed to strengthen the leadership, advocacy, and governance skills of queens to enable them respond effectively to modern challenges while upholding traditional values.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cApproximately seventy participants attended the\u00a0programme;\u00a0we used the sessions to deepen the association\u2019s understanding of their positions as agents of peace, love, and sustainable development,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She\u00a0stated\u00a0that the training stressed that queens were not just ceremonial figures, but active partners in community transformation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Madam\u00a0Afetorgbor\u00a0urged the\u00a0queenmothers\u00a0to draw on their wisdom and maternal knowledge to promote peace, unity, and progress across\u00a0Anlo\u00a0land, while encouraging them to\u00a0familiarise\u00a0themselves with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to integrate the targets into their community projects, especially those related to education, health, and gender equality.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Gender Desk Officer specifically tasked the queens to champion the rights of boys, girls, women, persons with disabilities, and other\u00a0marginalised\u00a0groups, and use their various position to give moral authority to speak up for the vulnerable and ensure no one is left behind in\u00a0community development efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said:\u00a0\u201cLet me\u00a0emphasised\u00a0that a queen must always embody boldness, fairness, and firmness, especially when mediating disputes. Impartial conflict resolution by traditional leaders reduces tension and prevents small disagreements from escalating\u00a0into community-wide problems.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Madam\u00a0Afetorgbor\u00a0further encouraged the participants to take bold advocacy steps on climate\u00a0change and\u00a0charged them to\u00a0mobilise\u00a0communities to plant more trees and adopt eco-friendly practices.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cClimate\u00a0change is a permanent reality that demands sustained local action to protect livelihoods and the environment,\u201d\u00a0she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The workshop further highlighted the need for collective action against pressing social challenges while the call for united efforts to combat Gender-Based Violence, teenage pregnancy, child\u00a0labour, child trafficking, child marriage, and domestic violence, continue to undermine development in many communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mama\u00a0Wotorbe\u00a0II of\u00a0Avuto, the President of the\u00a0Anlo\u00a0Queens Association, urged participants to cultivate\u00a0a strong desire\u00a0for continuous learning, and\u00a0stated\u00a0that effective governance as traditionally leaders require staying informed about laws, policies, and development issues that affect their people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mama\u00a0Amegbe\u00a0II of\u00a0Anyanui, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, expressed excitement about the success of the\u00a0programme\u00a0and stressed the importance of\u00a0queenmothers\u00a0continuous building of leadership capacity to tackle contemporary challenges such as youth unemployment, substance abuse, and cultural erosion.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mama\u00a0Amegbe\u00a0also urged the queens to collaborate closely with their chiefs and other traditional authorities to foster peace and sustainable\u00a0development in the\u00a0Anlo\u00a0State.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The two-day capacity-building workshop was sponsored by the Heart of Ghana Mission and Mission Global Fellowship, which reflected strong partnership support for women\u2019s leadership development in the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
