Ghana\u2019s Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to merit-based recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces, stating that under President John Dramani Mahama, the focus will be on professionalism and discipline, not personal gain or private loyalties.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series held at the Jubilee House on Monday, July 21, Dr Boamah emphasised that the Armed Forces must remain a disciplined institution grounded in national service.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoining the Ghana Armed Forces under President John Dramani Mahama will be based solely on merit, not money,\u201d he stated, stressing the need to insulate the military from partisan or commercial influence.<\/p>\n

He further underscored the government\u2019s intention to instil professionalism at all levels of military service.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe seek to train soldiers who will not be in haste to provide guard duties to unauthorised persons,\u201d Dr Boamah declared, making reference to concerns over the misuse of military personnel for private security by influential individuals.<\/p>\n

Dr Boamah\u2019s remarks come as part of broader efforts by the Mahama administration to restore integrity to public institutions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
