Legendary American musician, Stevie Wonder has arrived in Ghana following a decision in 2021 to permanently move to the West African country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In an Instagram post on the official page of Beyond The Return, Wonder was welcomed by a local music troupe with cultural display and drumming at the Kotoka International Airport.<\/p>\n

The 74-year-old Grammy Award winner has not yet officially stated if his arrival is for a permanent stay in Ghana.<\/p>\n

In keeping with his innate love of music, the music icon was also spotted playing the drums that the local music group welcome him with.<\/p>\n

\u00a0In February 2021, the iconic award-winning performer in an interview with Oprah Winfrey explaining his decision to move to Ghana, citing the political turmoil in the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanna see this nation smile again. And I want to see it before I leave to travel to move to Ghana because I\u2019m going to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Winfrey then asked, \u201cYou\u2019re going to permanently move to Ghana?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am,\u201d replied the singer. He added, \u201cI don\u2019t want to see my children\u2019s children\u2019s children have to say, \u2018Oh please like me. Please respect me, please know that I am important, please value me.\u2019 What is that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Stevie Wonder, a Michigan native, learned to play piano, drums, and harmonica by age 9 and signed to Motown in 1961. He has won 25 Grammy Awards, an honorary award, and has been nominated 74 times.<\/p>\n
