Black Queens midfielder Grace Asantewaa says her dream is to win the Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and write her name into the history books of African football, following Ghana\u2019s dramatic penalty shootout victory over Algeria.<\/p>\n

Ghana booked their place in the semifinals for the first time since 2016 after edging Algeria 4-2 on penalties in a tense quarterfinal clash. The game ended goalless after 120 minutes, with Algeria\u2019s stubborn defense frustrating the Queens throughout.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, Asantewaa who played the entire 120 minutes expressed her joy and determination to go all the way.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, thank you. I\u2019m very happy. I\u2019ve been preparing for this, and Ghanaians have been waiting for this moment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to win this trophy and see my name in the history books of Ghana, of Africa, and even worldwide . I\u2019m very happy, and I know Ghanaians are happy too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asantewaa and her teammates will now turn their focus to a massive semifinal clash against host nation Morocco, set for Tuesday, July 22 at the Stade Olympique de Rabat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
