The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called on the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to choose a peaceful transfer of power after the December 7 elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasised that the forthcoming general elections will not be business as usual.<\/p>\n

Also, the NDC Chairman called on the Electoral Commission to sit up in the discharge of their mandate.<\/p>\n

Addressing a news conference at the party\u2019s headquarters in Accra on Thursday, May 9, Johnson Asiedu Nketia reiterated calls on the election management body to respond to some 35 questions<\/a> the party has posed to the Commission.<\/p>\n

\u201cNPP must choose peaceful transfer of power from NPP to NDC in their own interest. The 2024 elections will not be business as usual. The EC must sit up! The EC must answer the 35 questions posed by the NDC on the stolen biometric equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe EC has no option but to allow our agents to record the serial numbers of the BVR kits deployed for this registration exercise if they have nothing to hide,\u201d said Asiedu Nketia.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Asideu Nketia, the NDC does not expect the EC \u201cto act as the conduit through which Akufo-Addo will implement his avowed determination not to hand-over power to the visionary, experienced and trustworthy John Dramani Mahama.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mr. Asiedu Nketia called on civil society organisations (CSOs), chiefs, opinion leaders, and faith-based organisations to join us in demanding more transparency and fairness, which is a necessary pre-condition for peaceful elections.<\/p>\n

President Nana Akufo-Addo, while addressing supporters at a mini rally in Daboro in the Greater Accra region, called on the people to vote for the NPP\u2019s 2024 presidential candidate.<\/p>\n

He said he does not want to be succeeded by Mr. Mahama, who is not pleased with the achievements of the NPP government.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t hand over to someone I defeated twice and is not happy with everything I do, he will destroy the work that I have done.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cVote for Dr. Bamwua, I have worked with him for the past seven and a half years, I have confidence in him, I know he can continue the good work,\u201d said President Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n
