The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon and Deputy Minister of Agriculture, John Dumelo, has called for the integration of agriculture into Ghana\u2019s basic education curriculum.<\/p>\n

Mr. Dumelo urged school authorities to reconsider the initiative and restructure the curriculum, believing that nurturing children in agriculture will help them envision a future career in the field.<\/p>\n

He made these remarks while speaking at this year\u2019s graduation ceremony of Brain Hill International School in East Legon.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cLet\u2019s spark their interest early,\u201d he said. \u201cThe sooner children understand agriculture, the more likely they are to see it as a career path and a tool for national development.\u201d<\/p>\n

This push for practical, early-life learning was echoed by school leaders as well. The Managing Director of the school, Mary Anane Awuku, emphasized that the role of parents cannot be overstated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt begins at home,\u201d she noted and added that children thrive when parents are not just providers, but active participants in their growth, we know parents are doing so well in the lives of their children but must not stop there, they need to be there every step of the way helping and guiding them when they are not in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a heartfelt address, the Principal of the school,<\/strong> Awel Rahamani urged for a more well-rounded approach to education<\/strong>; one that prioritizes emotional intelligence, adaptability, and moral grounding just as much as academic performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not only building students; we are shaping future citizens, the world is gradually shifting education from specific to holistic as it gives these kids the all rounded nature they need to thrive in the ever changing job market.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event brought together a diverse audience of parents, educators, policymakers, and well-wishers who came to witness the achievements of the school\u2019s young learners. In a display that blended intellect, creativity, and youthful promise, pupils graduated from various levels \u2014 a clear reflection of the school\u2019s commitment to academic excellence and character formation.<\/p>\n

Other prominent individuals who were present at the ceremony are Sammi Awuku, MP,for Akuapem North and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Agriculture. They added depth to the occasion, not just through their attendance but through their calls for more purpose-driven education.<\/p>\n
