Ghana\u2019s Black Queens begin their 2024 Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign today against reigning champions South Africa.<\/p>\n

This marks Ghana\u2019s return to the tournament for the first time since 2018 when they exited at the group stage as hosts. After missing the 2022 edition, Kim Lars Bjorkegren\u2019s side is eager to make a statement.<\/p>\n

Their opening match is a familiar one, Ghana and South Africa have opened against each other twice in the past at WAFCON, with the Queens winning both encounters: 4-0 in 1998 and 3-0 in 2004. In total, the two sides have met seven times at the tournament.<\/p>\n
