Some were working the technical details behind the scenes, and those who were vociferous out there, but I lost money in the Eurobond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the inclusion of pensioners in the debt programme was not just a bad policy decision, but a moral failure. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy would you do that? Why would you go after pensioners\u2019 money? It\u2019s one thing that people can never forgive Akufo-Addo and Ken Ofori-Atta for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked directly by host Evans Mensah if he personally had forgiven them, Mr Adu was emphatic. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I will not because I saw them live large. And so why do you want to live large at the expense of my pension? It\u2019s something that should not be trivialised at all, to have a Cabinet meeting and decide that in solving the country\u2019s debt problems we would include pensioners, that\u2019s dark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UgxmzT3P8NI?si=xCJh0ptkEP8r-x_w\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Despite having a close personal relationship with Ofori-Atta, Frank Adu Jnr did not hold back in his assessment of the former minister\u2019s performance. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are kind of family with Ofori-Atta. So on my first trip to the US, I stayed with Ken. We slept in the same bed. So that\u2019s the relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when asked to evaluate Ofori-Atta\u2019s tenure as finance minister, the renowned banker didn\u2019t mince words. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisaster. Disastrous. Look, if it wasn\u2019t disastrous, between him and the president, the people of Ghana wouldn\u2019t have voted the way they voted in 2024. It\u2019s not me saying it. The verdict is captured in the results of the elections. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s as simple as that. You do not run the economy where almost everybody is suffering and expect that the people will not object. And that\u2019s what the voters of this country did last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the early hopes that surrounded Ofori-Atta\u2019s appointment, Frank Adu Jnr said he, like many others, believed Ofori-Atta\u2019s international experience and background would translate into sound economic leadership. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what happened. I mean, I remember when he was appointed. I sent him a message congratulating him and urging him to do the best he could for this country and leave a legacy. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that\u2019s what we all expected. We were all very hopeful.
