Accra, June 2, GNA \u2013 The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Wales in an international friendly at the Cardiff City Stadium, with a late strike from Luis Koumas rescuing a point for the hosts.<\/p>\n

Ghana looked set for victory after Caleb Yirenkyi struck in the 66th minute, but Koumas scored deep into stoppage time in the 94th minute to deny the visitors a win.<\/p>\n

Wales threatened early in the contest, with Daniel James testing Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, who produced a fine save in the opening stages. James came close again shortly after, but his effort hit the crossbar, much to the relief of the Ghana defence.<\/p>\n

Ghana had a massive chance to take the lead before the break when Jordan Ayew capitalised on a mistake by Wales goalkeeper Karl Darlow, but the forward was unable to convert.<\/p>\n

Coach Carlos Queiroz made changes in the second half, and Ghana improved markedly, creating more openings as they took greater control of the game.<\/p>\n

Caleb Yirenkyi gave Ghana the lead in the 66th minute, tapping in from close range after Darlow failed to hold onto the ball.<\/p>\n

Ghana continued to press forward, with Jerome Opoku heading on target three minutes later, only for Darlow to make a crucial save.<\/p>\n

Wales pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages and eventually found it in dramatic fashion, as Koumas netted in the 94th minute to level the score.<\/p>\n

Ghana are drawn in Group L for the World Cup, where they will begin their campaign against Panama in Toronto before facing England and Croatia in Boston and Philadelphia, respectively.<\/p>\n
