Manchester \u200c\u200c\u200c\u200cCity chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the club is confident of proving their innocence, the \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060day after media reported \u2060\u2060\u2060that \u2060City had been found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules in a long-running case.<\/p>\n

In an open letter to supporters on Saturday, Al Mubarak \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060said the process was far from over<\/a> and City\u2019s confidence in proving the club\u2019s innocence \u201cis just as strong as when this began\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing Friday\u2019s media reporting, many of you will have spent your evening \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060answering questions and responding to messages from friends, family and colleagues. So have I,\u201d Al Mubarak said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s what I said to my family: The Premier League process still has a long way to run and our confidence and intent in proving the club\u2019s innocence is just as strong as when this began.\u201d<\/p>\n

City, who \u200c\u200c\u200c\u200chave always denied any wrongdoing, are expected to appeal the decision of the independent panel in a case that has hung over English football for years.<\/p>\n

A guilty verdict would rank among the most significant rulings in the sport\u2019s history, raising far-reaching questions about financial regulation, competitive integrity and the league\u2019s ability to enforce its rules against one of its most successful clubs.<\/p>\n

Al Mubarak said he was limited in what he could say about the case because of the strict confidentiality \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060of the legal process.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven this letter underwent several legal checks to make \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060sure it complies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI ask you to please carefully read the statement \u2026 which we gave on Friday and the statement we issued in February 2023 \u2026\u201d which he included in the open letter. \u201cEvery word matters and holds true.\u201d<\/p>\n

The February 2023 \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060statement said the club was surprised by the alleged breaches, \u201cparticularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL (English Premier League) \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060has been provided with.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club welcomes the review of this \u2060\u2060\u2060\u2060matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.\u201d<\/p>\n

City reiterated that statement on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Premier League has declined to comment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a confidential process, we\u2019re not commenting at all,\u201d a spokesperson \u200c\u200c\u200c\u200csaid.<\/p>\n

Al Mubarak asked for patience from supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile some people have been quick to reach their own conclusions and there is so much noise swirling around us, nothing has changed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have faced challenges \u200c\u200c\u200c\u200ctogether \u200c\u200c\u200c\u200cbefore and have prevailed. There remain many who want to undermine the momentum of our club. We will not give them that opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
