The Independent Candidate in the ongoing Ejisu by-election, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, has urged voters in the constituency to choose their future rather than the monetary inducement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for the constituency, Mr. Aduomi, alleged that vote-buying has been rife in Tuesday\u2019s by-election.<\/p>\n

Mr. Aduomi spoke to the media after casting his vote in his hometown, Besase, in the constituency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NPP officials are sharing money everywhere; I even saw it\u2026the MCE has parked his car and sharing money. If you collect one hundred cedis at the expense of your future, it is left with you. What will 100 cedis do to you if you collect it, while you will get somebody when he becomes an MP who will care about your future?\u201d Mr. Aduomi told reporters.<\/p>\n

Over 100,000 voters are voting today (April 30, 2024) to decide who will replace the late Dr. John Kumah as representative of the people of Ejisu Constituency in Parliament.<\/p>\n

Six candidates are contesting for the seat.<\/p>\n

They are; a former Member of Parliament for the area, now contesting as an independent candidate, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, New Patriotic Party\u2019s Kwabena Boateng, Convention People\u2019s Party\u2019s Esther Osei, Liberal Party of Ghana\u2019s Beatrice Boakye, Freduah Agyemang Joseph; and Attakorah Joseph, both independent candidates.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mr. Aduomi has indicated that he will not be perturbed by the outcome of the election, whether he wins or losses.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I am independent. But when I was in Parliament, the reason the NDC liked me for people to call me an NDC is that whenever Mahama brought anything up and I realised it was good for the progress of the state, I supported it.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if I go to Parliament, I will serve the interest of Ghana. It will not bother me whether I win or lose. My ability to respond to the call of my people to continue from where I exited gives me joy. So what I will say is that, I will remain as an independent candidate and think independently,\u201d he said in Twi on Onua TV\u2019s morning show, Maakye<\/strong><\/em>, Tuesday, April 30.<\/p>\n
