The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has published a list of 70 institutions currently not recognised by the Commission due to various quality-assurance concerns, warning the public to exercise due diligence regarding any certificates issued by these bodies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The public notice, dated Thursday, May 28, 2026, names institutions from the United States, India, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Liberia, Nigeria, Zambia and other countries, including fourteen institutions operating in Ghana.<\/p>\n

Among the Ghana-based institutions on the list are Doxa Open University, Debest College of Science, Arts and Business, Faith University Seminary, Kingdom Living Bible Institute in Kumasi, Global Professional College in Effiduase, Volta University College which also has operations in Nigeria, and Quest International University. Others include Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Training School, New Life Bible College and Seminary, Rhema Bible Training College, and All Nations Church International University among others.<\/p>\n

The Commission emphasised that these institutions are not recognised due to various quality assurance concerns and advised the public to be cautious when considering enrolment or accepting qualifications purportedly issued by them.<\/p>\n

The full list includes international institutions such as Universidad Azteca in Mexico, Atlantic International University in the United States, Selinus University of Sciences and Literature in Italy, Crown University International Chartered in the United States, Monarch Business School in Switzerland, City University in Cambodia, and Texila American University in Guyana, among many others.<\/p>\n

Also named are Indian institutions including the Indian School of Management and Studies, Kazian School of Management, the National Institute of Business Management, and IBM Institute of Management. European institutions on the list include the University of Haana in Germany, Tech Global University in Andorra, East Bridge University in France, and the Swiss Management Centre University in Switzerland.<\/p>\n

The Commission listed institutions from the United Kingdom including the London Academy of Technology and Management, the World Academy for Research and Development, and the London School of Management and Technology. Several United States-based theological seminaries and Bible colleges also appear on the list, including Breyer State Theology University, Osiri University, Christian Leadership University, Louisiana Baptist University & Seminary, Logos University, and American Bible University.<\/p>\n

In its notice, GTEC urged the general public to exercise due diligence with regard to any certificates issued by these institutions. The Commission advised prospective students and employers to verify the accreditation status of any tertiary institution before enrolment or recognition of qualifications.<\/p>\n

The notice was issued by the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission. The Commission reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of Ghana’s tertiary education system and safeguarding the public from substandard or fraudulent academic credentials.<\/p>\n

The public has been encouraged to consult GTEC’s official channels for verification of institutional accreditation status before making any decisions regarding tertiary education or employment qualifications.<\/p>\n
