Accra, June 1, GNA \u2013 Nations FC made history over the weekend, defeating Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties to clinch the 2025\/26 MTN FA Cup after a 1-1 draw at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The tightly contested final saw both sides locked at 1-1 after regulation time and extra time, forcing the outcome to be decided via a penalty shootout, where Nations FC converted all five kicks to secure the title.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Joseph Effah gave Nations FC the lead in the 31st minute with a composed finish, putting his side ahead in an entertaining first half.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dreams FC responded just before the break, as Abdul Razak Salifu calmly slotted home the equaliser to send the teams into halftime level.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The second half and extra time produced several chances for both teams, but neither side could find the decisive goal as the deadlock persisted through 120 minutes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the shootout, Nations FC held their nerve, converting all five of their penalties to\u00a0emerge\u00a0victorious and lift the trophy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The triumph marks a historic achievement for Nations FC, who became the first club in 34 years to win the FA Cup after suffering relegation from the Ghana Premier League.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their success mirrors that of\u00a0Voradep\u00a0in 1992, when they defeated\u00a0Neoplan\u00a0Stars 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nations FC\u2019s victory also crowns a remarkable FA Cup campaign and secures their qualification to\u00a0represent\u00a0Ghana in the 2026\/27 CAF Confederation Cup despite their relegation from the topflight.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The win is regarded as one of the most memorable moments in the recent history of the MTN FA Cup.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
