decision to repeal the controversial Electronic Transactions Levy (E-Levy).<\/p>\n<p>Former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Stephen Amoah expressed his stance on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, following the presentation of a report by Finance Committee Chairman, Isaac Adongo, which recommended the repeal of the tax.<\/p>\n<p>The E-Levy Repeal Bill is currently at the consideration stage, marking a crucial step toward its removal from Ghana\u2019s tax system. <\/p>\n<p>Some lawmakers and economic analysts arguing that its removal will ease financial burdens on Ghanaians, while others warn of potential revenue losses for the government.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/sotnews.agency\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/WhatsApp-Ptt-2025-03-26-at-13.32.42.ogg\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n<p>Dr Amoah\u2019s decision was followed by that of NPP MP and former Food and Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong.<\/p>\n<p>The E-Levy, which was introduced in 2022, imposed a tax on mobile money and electronic transactions, a move that was widely unpopular among citizens and businesses. <\/p>\n<p>Parliament is expected to deliberate further before making a final decision on the fate of the levy.<\/p>\n<p>The move forms part of President John Mahama\u2019s
