President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has acknowledged the recent power challenges in parts of the country, popularly known in local parlance as dumsor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He has reiterated his administration\u2019s commitment to resolving the power supply challenges being experienced in the country.<\/p>\n

The President also acknowledged the inconveniences citizens faced due to the unstable power supply.<\/p>\n\n

In his keynote address at the commissioning ceremony of the Kumasi 1 Thermal Power Plant at Anwomaso in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, April 17, President Akufo-Addo empathised with citizens affected by the power outages and commended their patience during this challenging period.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI do acknowledge, Minister for Energy, ladies and gentlemen, and Nananom, the challenges that the people of Ashanti and indeed other parts of the country have had to endure in very recent times over the supply of power. And I can only thank you for the patience you have exhibited in the face of these challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

President Akufo-Addo reassured the country that his administration is aggressively working to bring back a reliable electricity supply nationwide.<\/p>\n

He underscored that although the situation is unfortunate, it is not hopeless and that steps are being taken by his administration to lessen the effects of the power outages.<\/p>\n\n

Thus, he restated the commitment of his government to guaranteeing the well-being and comfort of every Ghanaian citizen.<\/p>\n

K1TPP has a total installed capacity of 150 megawatts. The plant marks a significant milestone in the government\u2019s efforts to ensure sustainable electricity supply, particularly in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n\n

According to the President, projects like the power station are important in boosting the country\u2019s energy supply to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis power project is the first in Kumasi and, by extension, the Ashanti region. It is very significant as it will improve the delivery of electricity to the middle and northern belts of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cProjects are further confirmation if any were needed, and my government is committed to ensuring that all parts of the country have the necessary infrastructure for development.\u201d<\/p>\n
