In a passionate statement following his nomination as Minister-Designate for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo has pledged to spearhead a groundbreaking policy framework aimed at transforming the lives of Ghanaian youth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The statement, titled \u201cGratitude, Vision, and a Call to Action<\/em>,\u201d underscores his commitment to inclusive progress, job creation, and youth empowerment.<\/p>\n

Opare Addo, a private legal practitioner and seasoned political organiser, expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting him with this pivotal role in the new administration.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not just a personal milestone, but a collective opportunity to rewrite the story of our nation\u2019s youth. This story belongs to you, the young people of our nation, and we will write it together,<\/em>\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The minister-designate outlined his vision to deploy and implement \u201cthe most aggressive and transformative policy framework for youth development in the history of our beloved country.<\/em>\u201d <\/p>\n

Central to his mission is the creation of decent jobs, empowerment of millions of youth, and lifting young people out of poverty. He called for urgency in action, emphasising, \u201cToday is Day 1, and we don\u2019t have the luxury of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Mahama, during his campaign and subsequent inauguration, highlighted youth unemployment and skills development as critical areas requiring immediate intervention. Opare Addo\u2019s bold plans align with these priorities, promising to address the longstanding challenges faced by the nation\u2019s young population.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter your political persuasion, creed, or background, my doors are opened. No time for long bureaucracy,<\/em>\u201d Opare Addo assured, signalling an inclusive approach to governance. He urged young Ghanaians to take bold steps, saying, \u201cLet\u2019s start that business, that initiative, that dream\u2014and make it a Ghanaian success story.\u201d<\/p>\n

George Opare Addo, affectionately known as \u201cPablo,\u201d is a lawyer, accomplished organiser, and former Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North. As the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 2018, he has played a crucial role in galvanising young Ghanaians and advancing the party\u2019s agenda.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Opare Addo\u2019s nomination comes at a time when Ghana faces significant challenges in youth development, including high unemployment rates, underemployment, and limited access to quality education and skills training. The ministry, under his leadership, is expected to introduce targeted interventions that address these pressing issues.<\/p>\n

Programmes such as the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) were criticised for being unsustainable, leaving many beneficiaries in uncertainty.\u00a0<\/p>\n
