The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially disclosed that it will not take part in the April 30 by-election in the Ejisu constituency.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, at a media interaction, emphasised that the party has set processes in motion targeting the main parliamentary elections on December 7, which require enough time and attention.<\/p>\n

He reaffirmed the party\u2019s determination to withdraw from the by-election, stressing their dedication to laying the framework for the December 7 general elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cNDC will officially not be taking part in the Ejisu by-election. We have already set into motion processes leading to December 7, just a few months away. We want to continue those processes and ensure that come December 7, we are prepared to combat in all the constituencies and Ejisu will be one of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo for this particular by-election, NDC will not be part of it. We are very confident about the processes we have in place,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to make sure we have the time to implement them fully. And between now and December 7, we will be in the position to make sure we are deploying everything that we have done so that really will be the way we want to go,\u201d said Mr. Fiavi Kwetey.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the ruling New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) delegates in the Ejisu constituency elected the second Vice Chairman for the constituency, Kwabena Boateng, on Saturday, April 13, as their candidate ahead of the by-election.<\/p>\n

The Ejisu by-election follows the passing of the incumbent MP for the area and deputy finance minister, John Ampotuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024, after a short illness.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Mustapha Gbande, said in a separate interview on TV3\u2019s Ghana Tonight<\/strong> that the NDC will continue to \u201cmourn with the biological family\u201d of the deceased MP, John Kumah.<\/p>\n
