Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said he was not the \u201cmain focus\u201d as he prepares to take charge of his first Manchester derby, seeking to maintain his team\u2019s 100 percent record this season.<\/p>\n

The City boss takes the Premier League leaders to Manchester United on Sunday in their toughest test of the season so far, after three successive wins<\/a> in the top flight.<\/p>\n

City have an impressive record at Old Trafford over the past 15 years, but lost last year in Pep Guardiola\u2019s final game there<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Michael Carrick\u2019s United have had a stuttering start to their season, winning just one<\/a> of their opening three games to sit five points behind City.<\/p>\n

Maresca, who previously worked as Guardiola\u2019s assistant at City, said it was \u201cvery important\u201d to get a first derby win this weekend, but stressed he had broader concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, I\u2019m more thinking about the team, the fans, the table,\u201d Maresca told reporters on Friday. \u201cAnd for sure, if we win, it\u2019s also good for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the main focus is not \u2018It\u2019s my first derby and I want to win the game.\u2019 For sure, I want to win the game, but it\u2019s because we want to continue to win games. That is good for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

City have been top dogs in Manchester since Alex Ferguson retired as a Premier League champion in 2013, finishing above them every season since.<\/p>\n

Maresca said recent history was behind Elliot Anderson<\/a>\u2018s claim that City were the \u201ckings of Manchester\u201d after the midfielder completed his 116 million pound ($157m) move to the Etihad Stadium from Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reason why Elliot said that is because he grew up in the last 15 years,\u201d said the Italian.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Manchester City was unbelievable, what they achieved. So, I think it\u2019s normal when Elliot said that.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen if you go back, it\u2019s a different picture. But for me, the reason why Elliot said that is because when he grew up, Manchester City was dominant.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
