Concerned former staff and sympathisers of GN Bank\/Savings have expressed confidence in President-elect John Dramani Mahama\u2019s commitment to fulfilling his promise to restore GN Bank\/Savings and other financial institutions that were unjustly collapsed during the banking sector cleanup under the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are encouraged by your commitment to restore the indigenous financial institutions that were unjustifiably dismantled. Your promise to revive GN (Savings) Bank, some of the defunct banks, along with several Savings and Loans and Fund Management companies, resonates deeply with our aspirations for economic recovery and stability,\u201d the group stated in a press release issued on 17th December 2024 in Accra and signed by the Convener, Philip Sarpiah.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe acknowledge the significant challenges faced by our nation due to the 2019 banking crisis, which had devastating effects on millions of Ghanaians. The actions taken by the previous administration, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, have left a deep and lasting impact on our financial landscape,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

According to the founder of the bank, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, the closure of his bank, which had about 300 branches, is detrimental to the nation\u2019s socioeconomic development. Some sympathisers also accuse the NPP government of politically persecuting Dr. Nduom, who is their political opponent, by collapsing his financial institution.<\/p>\n

The former employees of the defunct bank also extended their heartfelt congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for winning the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n

During his campaign, Mr. Mahama promised to restore the banks that were collapsed by the outgoing NPP government during the banking sector cleanup exercise between 2017 and 2020, following an unbiased assessment.<\/p>\n
