Dreams FC coach Karim Zito has advised supporters of Asante Kotoko to abandon hopes of winning the Ghana Premier League this season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zito spoke after his side secured a 2-0 victory over the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday, with goals from Sylvester Simba and Derrick Atta Agyei.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s defeat marked Kotoko\u2019s seventh loss in their last nine league games, a dismal run that has left the former coach of the club urging fans to accept the team\u2019s fate and focus on salvaging what remains of a lost season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to take this opportunity to plead to our supporters that we should forget about the league,\u201d Zito said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should try to end it. We should make peace with reality. The team is not in good shape, so the shouting and the hooting will not bring it back. But patience and focus can bring it back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kotoko\u2019s struggles have extended beyond the league, as they were eliminated from the FA Cup following a 1-0 loss to Karela United and suffered a 2-1 defeat against Asec Mimosas in the Presidents Cup.<\/p>\n

Kotoko currently sit 11th on the Ghana Premier League table with 33 points, having won just once in their last 10 games, with seven losses and two draws.<\/p>\n

Zito insists that optimism is the only way forward, warning that the fear of failure can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way they were shouting and hooting at them brought in the psychological point of coaching that fear of failure can let you fail,\u201d he added. \u201d<\/p>\n

So, when you don\u2019t take time, this fear of failure will let the boys feign injuries because they are afraid to come (and play).\u201d<\/p>\n
