Former Hearts of Oak defender, Amankwaa Mireku has said the club has to win trophies despite shift in focus to improve infrastructure by the board.<\/p>\n

In their last Annual General Meeting, Hearts of Oak Board Chairman, Togbe Afede explained his desire to improve the club\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Amankwaa Mireku in an interview with Connect 97.1FM said building infrastructure shouldn\u2019t hinder the team from winning trophies.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t justify building of infrastructure with performance. The leaders of the team doesn\u2019t play football so if they are concentrating on infrastructure, it shouldn\u2019t affect performance on the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were not having the facilities the team is having currently in 2000 but we still delivered so it shouldn\u2019t be an excuse,\u201d Mireku said.<\/p>\n

He continued by saying the club has experienced players and are ripped enough to win trophies and that should be the focus of the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is difference between infrastructure building and team rebuilding, with the later, it affect performance on the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t say you are grooming experienced players before a team wins a trophy, it\u2019s not done like that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
