Idris \u2018Bobrisky\u2019 Okuneye, a crossdresser who is well-known for dressing like a woman, will spend his six months in prison in the male section, the Nigerian Correctional Service has confirmed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This decision was made based on Bobrisky\u2019s declaration of his male gender status during his court appearance.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the correctional service stated, \u201csince he admitted to being a male in court, then we have to abide by what was submitted in court.\u201d<\/p>\n

The correctional service assured that measures will be taken to ensure Bobrisky\u2019s safety from potential sexual assault by other inmates.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe shouldn\u2019t be afraid of sexual assault from other male inmates because our men can give him protection.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bobrisky has publicly declared his transition to a woman and has since portrayed to be one gaining huge fans on social media.<\/p>\n

Notwithstanding this public image, he will be handled in accordance with his legal gender status while in detention.<\/p>\n

Earlier in court today, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in jail by the Federal High Court in Lagos with no option of fine.<\/p>\n

The court presided over by Justice Awogboro held that the ruling will discourage those who enjoy abusing and mutilating the Nigerian currency.<\/p>\n

The Judge, however, ordered that the jail term commences on March 24, 2024, the day of Bobrisky\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n
