Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Running Mate of the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, says the true state of Ghana\u2019s economy is evident in the markets.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all go to the market, and therefore we know how expensive and unbearable the cost of items, including food products, have become.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you want a change for the better, then vote for the NDC to return to power to effectively manage the country to reduce the cost of living,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Addressing market leaders, traders, commercial drivers and commuters at the Mankessim market in the Mfantseman constituency in the Central Region as part of her tour of the region, Prof Opoku-Agyemang said it is clear that the government has failed the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cGhanaians don\u2019t need a lecture to know the extent of failure due to the mismanagement. Everything is clear in the markets and shops,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Touching on development in the market and the Mankessim area, she noted that redesigning and constructing modern markets remains one of the key points in the next NDC government\u2019s agenda because of the value the party places on markets and traders.<\/p>\n

She cited the various development infrastructure the NDC built in Mankessim, including the development of the market, and questioned what the current government has done for them.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaven\u2019t we done it before?\u201d, she asked, and urged the people to support the NDC to return to power to continue with its projects that have been abandoned in the area by the government.<\/p>\n

She also informed the traders about the proposed introduction of a Women\u2019s DevelopmentBank which would provide credit to traders to expand their businesses, saying \u201cwe have great plans for you traders.\u201d<\/p>\n
