Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has stated that he won\u2019t be surprised if allegations of forgery in the Norway Scandal had an official endorsement from government officials.<\/p>\n

He said this in an interview on Citi FM\u2019s Eyewitness News<\/strong> in the wake of the scandal that has gripped sports headlines since the story broke this past weekend.<\/p>\n

A letter from the Ministry of National Security addressed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration stated that nine individuals who claimed to be para-athletes representing Ghana at the Bergren Marathon, had absconded in Norway.<\/p>\n

In a press briefing, the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, stated that he won\u2019t take responsibility for the scandal because due processes weren\u2019t followed.<\/a> (Click highlighted text to read full story)<\/p>\n

National Paralympic Committee-Ghana President Samson Deen stated that his signature was forged on letters used to process the visas.<\/a> (Click highlighted text to read full story)<\/p>\n

However, former Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, stated that he wouldn\u2019t be surprised if allegations of forgery had an official endorsement and referenced the 2018 Commonwealth Games scandal where similar counts of impersonations were allegedly conducted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are talking about a regime under which we\u2019ve seen situations where people were virtually made athletes, journalists and reporters when they are not during the Australia Commonwealth Games you all know what happened, the Commonwealth Visa scandal\u2026government officials, state officials were involved. What has come out of that issue, what has come of that case.\u201d<\/p>\n
