Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ablekuma West Constituency have expressed confidence in retaining the seat after the upcoming general elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite recent polls by Global Info Analytics projecting a 56 percent win for the NDC candidate Rev. Kwaku Addo as against Ursula Owusu\u2019s 39%, the NPP\u2019s constituency executives believe their ground assessment show a different picture.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny time when we are approaching an election, people come out with a lot of findings. Last four years it happened, and they said Ursula was going to lose but she won. Today, you are here telling me another institution is here. I just want everybody here to treat it as a trash, it is falsehood and doesn\u2019t reflect what\u2019s on the grounds,\u201d Philip Gyimah Youth Organizer for Ablekuma West Constituency insisted.<\/p>\n

He further highlighted some developmental projects which have been done by the incumbent Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonorable Ursula Owusu has done phenomenaly well when it comes to development in Ablekuma West. Every school in the Constituency today can boast of ICT lab. She is building an Astro turf park for the youth here. Security has also been revamped,\u201d the youth organizer stated.<\/p>\n

The NDC\u2019s constituency executives on the other hand, are confident of winning the seat for the first time.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the first time in the history of Ablekuma West, NDC will take the seat and I can assure that,\u201d one of them vowed.<\/p>\n

Francis Hayibor, the NDC Constituency Secretary outlined several key policies they intend to implement should they win the seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf by the grace of God, we win this seat, the first thing we will do is to develop the market which they have left for over 12 years. Also, we will complete the sea defense we started and they refused to complete it. Lastly, we will build more hospitals to meet the needs of the people,\u201c Hayibor assured.<\/p>\n

The Ablekuma West Constituency has been a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party since its creation.<\/p>\n

The NDC has been represented by a new parliamentary candidate in every election in the constituency.<\/p>\n

In 2012, the party was represented by Victoria Hamah who garnered 26,153 votes representing 41.18% as against the NPPs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful who polled 36,975 representing 58.22 percent.<\/p>\n\n

in 2016, the NDC presented Diana Obenewaa Twum who polled 20,976 votes representing 34.8 percent against the NPPs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful\u2019s 34,376 votes representing 57. percent.<\/p>\n\n

In 2020, the NDC went in for a Rev. Minister, Rev. Kwaku Addo who also failed to win the seat.<\/p>\n\n

Rev. Kwaku polled 30,733 representing 44.64% against the NPP Ursula Owusu-Ekuful 37,363 representing 54.27 percent of total votes cast.<\/p>\n
