Ghanaian music duo, Keche has lamented the persistent problem of musicians not being able to receive substantial amount of money as royalties from GHAMRO.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Keche is the latest group to join the fight for royalties for musicians. Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Shobiz TV, Keche stated that despite their many hits songs, they have never received even up to GHC500 as royalties from GHAMRO.<\/p>\n

Keche argued that not even top artistes like Sarkodie, Shatta Wake and Stonebwoy can honestly admit they have received royalties up to the tune of GHC10,000 or GHC20,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo musician can boast of royalties like GHC20,000. So we don\u2019t know what is happening. \u00a0People show up, our managers are always there if we have to go somewhere. We\u2019ve been there several times but nothing changes after the discussions. Why should we leave our jobs, which provide for us, to attend a meeting that leads nowhere?<\/p>\n

\u201cUp till now, tell me have you met any artiste who can say he\u2019s received royalties like GHC10,000? No. A whole artiste like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, nobody has taken GHC10,000 before and its very bad. I become emotional when it comes to these things.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor so many years with many hits, Keche name them, GHAMRO has not even given us even GHC500, not even 200 or 100 so somebody like me why do I go for a meeting,\u201d Keche noted.<\/p>\n

The group further questioned the operations of GHAMRO and MUSIGA and how the same issue has been discussed at meetings, but nothing has changed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t understand what GHAMRO and MUSIGA are doing. \u00a0I don\u2019t know what happens there that up till now, the government does not support this thing too much,\u201d Keche added.<\/p>\n
