Presidents and Executive Secretaries representing Africa\u2019s 8 Regional Economic Communities (RECs) convened on Saturday in Accra for the 5th biannual meeting of their coordination platform, held on the sidelines of the Executive Council and the semi-annual Summit of the African Union.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chaired by Dr Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission and Chairman of the RECs platform, the meeting saw the participation of officials and delegations from prominent regional bodies, including the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), the East African Community (EAC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).<\/p>\n

The gathering aimed to strengthen collaboration and coordination among the RECs, focusing on regional integration, economic development, and security across the African continent.<\/p>\n
