Former Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Alhaji Abdullah Showumi Williams has been laid to rest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The renowned boxing administrator was laid to rest in Accra on Friday after Islamic customary rites.<\/p>\n

Alhaji Showumi Williams passed on Wednesday, July 17 after a short illness.<\/p>\n

He was 85.<\/p>\n

He was known to have contributed to the growth of boxing in Ghana to the extent of giving his residence out for training boxers.<\/p>\n

There was a file past early on Friday as family members and sympathisers read tributes in his honour.<\/p>\n

His mortal remains were, then, sent to the National Mosque for the Salaat al-Janaazah prayers before interment at the Mantse Ankrah Royal Mausoleum.<\/p>\n

Until his demise, Alhaji Showumi Williams was also the National Coordinator of the Federation of Muslim Councils.<\/p>\n
