The Nollywood movie industry has once again been thrown into a mourning state following the demise of one of its famous actors, Pope Obumneme Odonwodo.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Better known as Junior Pope, the actor died aged 39 together with three of his colleagues while returning from a movie location on Wednesday [April 10] afternoon.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the boat in which they were travelling in capsized in the Anam river in Anambra State leading to their death.<\/p>\n

The Delta State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emma Onyemeziem has since confirmed his death.<\/p>\n

His last post on Instagram was a video of himself on a boat. He wrote as the caption of the post: “The risk we take to entertain you ; crossing river 9ja yesterday with no life\u2026 pic.twitter.com\/q3eDRYZ7l4<\/a><\/p>\n

Their bodies has since been recovered. Pope\u2019s last Instagram post was on Monday where he shared a video of himself in a boat and praying frantically to arrive at his destination safely.<\/p>\n\n

Nollywood deaths this year<\/strong><\/p>\n

The death of Junior Pope is the latest in a string of tragedies that has hit Nollywood this year.<\/p>\n

Last month, ace actors, such as Mr. Ibu, Sisi Quadri and Amaechi Muonagor passed on. In January it was Deji Aderemi, popularly known as Olofa Ina. In February it was Ethel Ekpe. She is well known for playing the role of \u2018Segi\u2019 on the Nigerian Television Authority sitcom, \u2018Basi and Company\u2019.<\/p>\n

Just recently, Adejumoke Aderounmu of Jenifa\u2019s Diary also passed on at age 40.<\/p>\n
