A representative of volunteers for the 2023 African Games Protocol and Ceremonies section, Seidu Abdulai Damba, says the performance of volunteers at the competition was worth a 9.5 over 10 mark.<\/p>\n

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports<\/strong> after the 13th African Games were held in Ghana from March 8 to March 23. Ghana won a record 69 medals in total at the competition.<\/p>\n

Volunteers have come under the spotlight in recent weeks over disagreement in payment of allowances for work done during the Games.<\/p>\n

On the sensitive issue of payment of allowances, Damba believes sorting through the high volume of data is likely the reason for the delay<\/a> before praising the performance of individuals who volunteered for roles to ensure Ghana successfully hosted the 13th edition of the African Games. \u201cOn the scale of 1 to 10, I will rate the performance of volunteers to the success of this program, 9.5. We were very committed. We did our best, we conducted ourselves very well. These disturbances were just a lack of proper communication\u2026and it was the basis upon which volunteers were angry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

In a statement released earlier this week, the Local Organizing Committee stated that each volunteer is to be given 1000 Ghana cedis as allowance.<\/p>\n
