Despite consecutive increases in visitor numbers for the Ghana Tourism Authority\u2019s (GTA) annual flagship event, \u2018December in GH\u2019, hotel occupancy for tourists and visitors has declined in recent years.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Ghana Tourism Report notes that international tourist arrivals for the year reached 1.1 million, a 25 percent increase from the previous year.<\/p>\n

It further reveals that the average expenditure on accommodation was the highest spending category at 34.61%, slightly exceeding last year\u2019s 33.34%.<\/p>\n

However, there was a slight decline of about 3-5% in participants staying in hotels, while those opting for Airbnb accommodations saw a significant increase from 11.5% in 2021 to 27% in 2023.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Ghana commemorated the Year of Return programme, marking 400 years since the abolition of the Slave Trade.<\/p>\n

A pivotal event in this celebration was December in GH (DiGH), an initiative by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) that has evolved into a significant cultural and tourism highlight on the nation\u2019s calendar.<\/p>\n

Drawing global visitors keen on experiencing Ghana\u2019s rich heritage, arts, and entertainment scene, DiGH has been a focal point in showcasing the country\u2019s vibrant cultural tapestry.<\/p>\n
