If the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is able to get 75 percent votes in the Ashanti Region the party will win the general elections first round, Deputy Campaign Chair of the Bawumia campaign team, Nana Akomea has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said this while touching on the selection of Manhyia South lawmaker Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as Dr Bawumia\u2019s running mate.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we get 75 percent in Asahnti we have won the elections,\u201d Akoema said on the Nrews Central on TV3 Monday, July 8.<\/p>\n

He further stated that Dr. Opoku Prempeh was not chosen as running mate to Dr Bawumia merely because of where he hails from.<\/p>\n

Rather, Nana Akomea said, Dr Opoku Prempeh was chosen because of the work he did at the Ministries of Education and Energy.<\/p>\n

Although he says NPP is not expecting anything less than 75 percent of votes in the Ashanti Region due to Napo\u2019s selection, the focus had been to get a person with the qualities of Napo, hence his selection.<\/p>\n

\u201cNapo was not chosen because he comes from a place but it was based on known personal qualities.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis performance as minister of state, education and energy, the hard work and his personal qualities are very good,\u201d Nana Akomea said.<\/p>\n

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said that the partnership between Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr Matthew Opoku as his running mate is an excellent one.<\/p>\n

He said the NPP would win the 2024 general elections with this ticket. Speaking to journalists after the confirmation, President Akufo-Addo said, \u201cNational Council has endorsed the nomination of Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to be the running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NPP has an excellent ticket and we\u2019re going to win with this ticket on 7th December 2024, that\u2019s the news. The feeling is good, they make a very good pair, and they are going to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for his part thanked the National Council of the NPP for unanimously endorsing his selection of Dr Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.<\/div>\n

In a Facebook post, he said \u201cToday, I had the honour and privilege to present my choice of running mate (Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh<\/span><\/span>) to the National Council of the\u00a0New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for their consideration in line with NPP constitution.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh assured members and supporters of the NPP that he will help Dr Bawumia to prosecute a formidable 2024 campaign to break the 8-year election cycle.<\/p>\n

He says he understands that the task ahead requires the collective effort. He further called upon all members of the NPP to join hands to collectively strive to achieve their \u2018ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI express my gratitude to the National Council, the rank-and-file of our party and our esteemed President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for their unwavering support and faith in me,\u201d he said in a statement immediately after the National Council of the NPP unanimously endorsed him as the running mate on Thursday, July 3.<\/p>\n

I am deeply honoured today as the chosen running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). I am humbled to be nominated by our distinguished flagbearer, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and endorsed unanimously by the National Council in accordance with the provisions of the NPP Constitution.<\/p>\n

I am privileged and duty-bound to extend my full support to Dr. Bawumia as we work together to realise his visionary agenda of propelling Ghana to greater heights.<\/p>\n

I view this nomination as part of God\u2019s plan for my life, and I am grateful for His guidance in directing my path. I pray for His ongoing guidance as I move forward. I consider this nomination as a call to higher service, a call to sacrifice and a duty to perform.<\/p>\n

The NPP is enriched with numerous astute personalities; therefore, I recognise the significance of my selection and do not take it lightly. I call upon all our members to join hands as we collectively strive to achieve our ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation.<\/p>\n

I express my gratitude to the National Council, the rank-and-file of our party and our esteemed President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for their unwavering support and faith in me.<\/p>\n

I thank Mr. President again for the opportunity granted me to serve in two respected cabinet positions. I am forever grateful. I am equally grateful to my colleague Ministers of State members of Parliament for the confidence reposed in me. It has prepared me for a day like this, and I feel ready to make everyone who believes in me proud and win over the doubters.<\/p>\n

I understand that the task ahead requires our collective effort, and I, therefore, plead with every party member to come on board as we seek the mandate of our countrymen and women once again to serve them.<\/p>\n

As I assume the role of running mate alongside my esteemed boss, H.E. Dr Bawumia, I am committed to supporting him to prosecute a formidable 2024 campaign to break the 8-year election cycle and serve our beloved country diligently. Let us work together towards a brighter future for Ghana.<\/p>\n
