These were the words of Former Executive Director of the Danquah Institute Gabby Otchere-Darko to Manhyia South Lawmaker Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh after his selection as the running mate to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/p>\n

Mr Otchere-Darko after congratulating Dr Opoku-Prempeh said the intellectual capacity, strong attitude to work, generosity, ability to deliver,\u00a0 commitment to the values of JB Danquah and the sheer verve to fight to succeed attributes of the Energy Minister are the tools required for the task ahead.<\/p>\n

In a post on his X platform, he said \u201cCongratulations, Napo! The Presidential Candidate settled on you for very obvious reasons. He believes you to be the best partner to help him as his number two to win the 2024 presidential election and to help him deliver on his promises to Ghanaians if elected.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have known you for years (even before our days at Danquah Institute) and aware of your strengths. Your intellectual capacity, your strong attitude to work, your generosity, your ability to deliver, your commitment to the values of Danquah and your sheer verve to fight to succeed are the tools required for the task ahead.<\/p>\n

The National Council of the NPP unanimously endorsed Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh at an emergency meeting held in Accra on Thursday, July 4.<\/p>\n

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said that the partnership is an excellent one that will win the 2024 general elections for the NPP.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists after the confirmation, President Akufo-Addo said, \u201cNational Council has endorsed the nomination of Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to be the running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NPP has an excellent ticket and we\u2019re going to win with this ticket on 7th December 2024, that\u2019s the news. The feeling is good, they make a very good pair, and they are going to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh assured members and supporters of the NPP that he will help Dr Bawumia to prosecute a formidable 2024 campaign to break the 8-year election cycle.<\/p>\n

He says he understands that the task ahead requires the collective effort. He further called upon all members of the NPP to join hands to collectively strive to achieve their \u2018ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation\u2019.<\/p>\n

I am deeply honoured today as the chosen running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). I am humbled to be nominated by our distinguished flagbearer, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and endorsed unanimously by the National Council in accordance with the provisions of the NPP Constitution.<\/p>\n

I am privileged and duty-bound to extend my full support to Dr. Bawumia as we work together to realise his visionary agenda of propelling Ghana to greater heights.<\/p>\n

I view this nomination as part of God\u2019s plan for my life, and I am grateful for His guidance in directing my path. I pray for His ongoing guidance as I move forward. I consider this nomination as a call to higher service, a call to sacrifice and a duty to perform.<\/p>\n

The NPP is enriched with numerous astute personalities; therefore, I recognise the significance of my selection and do not take it lightly. I call upon all our members to join hands as we collectively strive to achieve our ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation.<\/p>\n

I express my gratitude to the National Council, the rank-and-file of our party and our esteemed President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for their unwavering support and faith in me.<\/p>\n

I thank Mr. President again for the opportunity granted me to serve in two respected cabinet positions. I am forever grateful. I am equally grateful to my colleague Ministers of State members of Parliament for the confidence reposed in me. It has prepared me for a day like this, and I feel ready to make everyone who believes in me proud and win over the doubters.<\/p>\n

I understand that the task ahead requires our collective effort, and I, therefore, plead with every party member to come on board as we seek the mandate of our countrymen and women once again to serve them.<\/p>\n
