According to him, as soon as the Gen Z and people in Kenya lost their fear, the politicians lost their power.<\/p>\n

Sammy\u2019s statement reflects the growing frustration among the Kenyan youth with President William Ruto\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President, William Ruto, has been in power for two years, with three more to go, but we do not want him anymore,\u201d Sammy declared. \u201cThe Gen Z in Kenya are fighting for their future; the time is up. He is not helping; he is making life harder.\u201d he told Felicia in a tiktok live.<\/p>\n

Drawing parallels with a similar occurrence in Sri Lanka, Sammy highlighted the transformative power of collective action. \u201cSomething similar happened in Sri Lanka, they entered parliament, the youth and all the indigenes. When you lose your fear, they lose their power.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tension in Kenya remains palpable, he says with reports of some Members of Parliament (MPs) currently in hiding.<\/p>\n

Sammy elaborated, \u201cThere are some MPs who are still in hiding; they are afraid, and some are being beaten. It\u2019s that serious. These MPs are responsible for voting \u2018Yes\u2019 for the bill. Those who voted \u2018No\u2019 to the bill are safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

The controversial Finance Bill 2024, which introduced unpopular tax proposals, sparked widespread protests and violence across the country on Tuesday, June 25. Protesters stormed the National Assembly, setting a section of the parliament building on fire and clashing with police.<\/p>\n

In response to the intense unrest, President Ruto announced on Wednesday, June 26, the withdrawal and rejection of the Finance Bill 2024. Demonstrators had demanded that MPs reject the bill, citing concerns over its impact on the economy and ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n

The youth-led protests mark a significant moment in Kenya\u2019s political landscape, showcasing the power of collective action and the growing influence of the younger generation.<\/p>\n
