In a recent discourse on TV3\u2019s NewDay show, Nana Yaa Jantuah, General Secretary of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP), criticised President Akufo-Addo\u2019s leadership and his interactions with Kenyan President William Ruto.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her comments came in the wake of mounting economic difficulties and controversial policy decisions in Ghana and Kenya.<\/p>\n

Jantuah suggested that President Akufo-Addo\u2019s recent meeting with President Ruto may have influenced Ghana\u2019s economic policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you make bad friends, your judgment is clouded,\u201d she remarked. \u201cRuto visited Nana Addo not long ago, and shortly after returning to Kenya, he introduced a tax bill. It\u2019s possible Nana Addo might have advised him on leveraging taxes to handle crises, like our Covid levy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drawing parallels between the two leaders, Jantuah highlighted the warnings from Kenya\u2019s former President, Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Ruto was coming into power, Kenyatta warned that Ruto was not fit for leadership, but the Kenyans didn\u2019t listen. Similarly, our elders cautioned us about Nana Addo, who came into power with biblical quotes like \u2018The battle is the Lord\u2019s,\u2019 much like Ruto did.\u201d<\/p>\n

She pointed to the concerning consequences of ignoring such advice. \u201cIn the 2020 elections, nine people lost their lives, and nothing substantial has been done about it. Now, in Kenya, 13 people have died following Ruto\u2019s policies. Bad friendships lead to bad advice and worse outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n
