A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has expressed concerns over the government\u2019s inability to address the spiraling prices of essential goods and services in the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking on 3FM Sunrise, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe lamented that the situation has impacted Ghanaians seriously.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese days when you talk of pocket, almost every individual you come across has an empty pocket,\u201d lamented one Ghanaian citizen.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very disturbing, and it appears our mothers in the market have vowed to keep increasing the prices of goods just as they like. Apart from the fact that it has an impact on the individual physically, psychologically and even medically. It\u2019s a situation that if we are not careful it can create a big, big problem,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n

He further alleged that funds intended for critical infrastructure, such as clean water projects, are being diverted into private pockets.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we have a situation where you need just about $5 million to provide good cleaning water for the people, somebody would take the money and put into his pocket,\u201d said one concerned citizen. \u201cWhy is it happening in Africa and nowhere else in the civilized world?\u201d He quizzed.<\/p>\n

The founding member argued that government has failed to address the needs of the people who elected them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy would people come to power and fail the people that gave them the mandate? Why?\u201d He asked<\/p>\n

Ghana is currently facing its most severe economic crisis in decades. Over the past two years, the country has experienced record-high inflation rates. The Bank of Ghana, the nation\u2019s central banking authority, has faced criticism in some circles for its role in Ghana\u2019s economic difficulties, which have significantly impacted the profitability of the country\u2019s banking sector.<\/p>\n
