Accra, June 23, GNA \u2013 Pupils from 13 basic schools in Accra brought on their best act in performances highlighting sustainability and environmental preservation at the June Edition of Fun World, held at the National Theatre.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was an atmosphere filled with victory chants, pulsating rhythms, laughter and intellectual exchanges, as contestants took turns in a healthy battle for supremacy, recognition and mini prize packages.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The family education and entertainment programme\u00a0commemorated World Earth Day and World Environment Day, on the theme: \u201cOur Power, Our Planet \u2013 Inspired by Nature, For a Sustainable Future.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

It included traditional and contemporary dance, music, drama, poetry recital and fashion show, which brought the theme to life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The schools included Brighter Harmony School, who were declared winners in the debate on banning plastics in Ghana. Tabernacle Praise Academy also won the contemporary dance challenge in the show\u00a0that brought\u00a0together scores of audiences, parents, and teachers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr William Ashong, Programme Manager, National Theatre, highlighted the impact of\u00a0Funworld\u00a0as an education and entertainment programme in nurturing the creativity and talent of children.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said the programme had, over the years, enabled students to build confidence, discipline, leadership skills, teamwork\u00a0and other soft skills through the arts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The June edition of the show, he added, was part of efforts to inculcate the value of environmental stewardship and preservation in children and inspire positive social change.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough performances and recitals which focus on the theme of preservation, the children are indirectly learning and playing at the same time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe the message will resonate well with them and stick in their subconscious as they also educate other people on the need to clean and protect the environment,\u201d Mr Ashong\u00a0stated.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He commended partners who supported the programme, and urged parents and pupils to participate in future editions of the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Prosper Quarshie, Marketing and Sponsorship Manager\u00a0at the\u00a0National Theatre, thanked sponsors of the event, and appealed to other corporate bodies to invest in the arts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Expressing satisfaction with the turn out, Madam\u00a0Ellen Danso, a\u00a0teacher, praised\u00a0organisers\u00a0for the thrilling show, urging parents and educators to support young talents.\u00a0<\/p>\n
