Ghana\u2019s sensational high jumper, Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, has won the country\u2019s first gold medal at the ongoing African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeboah secured her victory with a jump of 1.87m at the Stade de la Reunification, successfully defending the title she won in Mauritius two years ago.<\/p>\n

The former University of Cape Coast (UCC) student holds a national record of 1.97m and has already qualified for the Paris Olympic Games. Guinea\u2019s Fatoumatou Balley claimed the silver medal, while Nigeria\u2019s Adenisa Temitope took bronze.<\/p>\n

Yeboah\u2019s gold medal follows a disappointing finish for Ghana in the women\u2019s 100m final on Saturday.<\/p>\n

However, there is optimism as both relay teams have advanced to the finals, scheduled for Monday, June 24.<\/p>\n
