Dambai\u00a0(O\/R) June 21, GNA \u2013 Football supporters in the Krachi East Municipality have called on the technical team of the Black Stars to adopt a performance-based approach in selecting the team\u2019s starting line-up for Ghana\u2019s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup group-stage fixture against England.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The supporters, in separate interviews with the Ghana News Agency\u00a0(GNA) in the municipality, said player\u00a0selection\u00a0should be guided by current form, fitness levels and recent performances to ensure the team\u00a0remains\u00a0competitive throughout the tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They noted that the match against England, scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, presents an opportunity for the technical team to assess available options and strengthen squad cohesion ahead of\u00a0subsequent\u00a0fixtures.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr\u00a0Kwame\u00a0Gyamesi\u00a0a football enthusiast at\u00a0Njari\u00a0said players who are in peak condition should be considered for\u00a0selection\u00a0regardless of\u00a0previous\u00a0appearances.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe technical team may consider the current form of all players. The match against England is a high-profile fixture, and it is important to field players who are in\u00a0optimal\u00a0condition,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Miss Abena Serwaa, another supporter at Pai-Katanga,\u00a0said strategic squad rotation could\u00a0provide\u00a0an opportunity to evaluate different player combinations while\u00a0maintaining\u00a0competitiveness.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAll players in the Black Stars set-up are capable of contributing.\u00a0Selection\u00a0based on current performance can help improve team output and overall competitiveness,\u201d she\u00a0stated.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The supporters commended the Ghana Football Association and the technical team for their preparations for the tournament and expressed confidence in the team\u2019s ability to perform creditably on the global stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They also urged the players to remain focused and\u00a0maintain\u00a0discipline as the competition progresses.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Black Stars will face England in their next group-stage match following their 1-0 victory over Panama on June 17 in Toronto, Canada.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Ghana Football Association has reiterated its commitment to providing the necessary technical and logistical support to ensure the national team\u00a0remains\u00a0competitive throughout the tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n
