Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has picked Liverpool and Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk as the toughest defender he has played against.<\/p>\n

He said this in a revealing interview where he added that the former Southampton player is so good defending that his aura put Semenyo off when he attempted a shot in a Bournemouth matchup against Liverpool.<\/p>\n

\u201cHardest defender I\u2019ve faced is Van Dijk\u2026 I remember running behind then all I hear is this man\u2019s footsteps chasing me I\u2019m thinking this man is fast. This guy is like 6 foot 4, 6 foot 5 and he is fast like he\u2019s got presence, you can hear him coming. His aura just put me off I dragged the ball wide. It\u2019s tough. \u201c<\/p>\n

Semenyo just completed the 2023-2024 English Premier League season with the 12th ranked AFC Bournemouth; he registered eight goals and two assists in 33 league appearances.<\/p>\n

The 24 year old recently featured in Ghana\u2019s 2-1 win over Mali in Bamako in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier and is in line to play in the Black Stars game against Central African Republic on June 10 in Kumasi.<\/p>\n

Van Dijk on the other hand, is preparing to compete at the 2024 European Championship with The Netherlands.<\/p>\n
